A little Needlepoint update...

Kate Marsden

I've been working on my needlepoint project as and when I get a chance over the past couple of months, and I think I'm at about the half way point ("think" because I have it stretched over a frame so I'm not 100% certain without taking it off).

It's coming on nicely though and I'm starting to get into the swing of the stitching without feeling that I have to concentrate too much - I think the whole idea of making something like this, for me at least, is that I have to concentrate enough that it clears my mind of all the other clutter, but not so much it makes me get stressed about it?!

The only real downside is that it isn't all that portable. I took it up to my parents when we stayed there a few weeks ago but it's definitely not one for the train as the frame is huge! I am much better off stitching it on a frame though, as I found my knuckles on my right hand became very red and sore when I didn't use one - they were scratching against the stiff fabric every time I made a stitch.

I can't wait to see the finished thing on the sofa (It's going to be a cushion - you can see my earlier post here) but at my current rate of progress it'll be some time in the summer!
