The end of last month saw the end of the painting course I started back in September. I'm seriously considering renewing for next year but haven't yet (trying to save the pennies!). I've learnt a huge amount though and I think my painting has improved enormously. Here's the final piece I worked on (not the best though unfortunately - I think that has to go to this one - or this one)...
And step by step...
I struggled initially as I'd missed the previous session and ended up drawing this from a picture on my phone! It's a building at Teliskivi in Tallinn (you can see the original photo here). Here it is at the end of the first week (when I was ready to stick it straight in the bin).
I added more depth to it in the second week (working with gouache again).
And you can see the final piece above (top image) and next to my National Theatre painting (which I'm much happier with) below.
Definitely not my best! I suspect I may have to renew my course in order to keep up with my painting (as it forced me to dedicate 2 hours a week to it), but the next challenge before the summer holidays is pottery - which I haven't done for ages - so watch this space!
