Back to safer ground in my art class this term - I'm painting the National Theatre on the South Bank in London. Here's the latest work in progress (after 4 sessions)...

The only think to make this project tricky is the fact that we have distorted the original image using a grid (you can see the grid in the first picture below). Some people have really gone to town with it but I think I've been a bit pedestrian with the distortion, just making the stairwell the focus as it's my favourite feature.

I've gone for a combination of acrylics and gouache (how I managed to step away from gouache for 3 months is now beyond me - I'm hooked!) and I'm considering revisiting the subject once I've finished this one and really distorting it so that it's barely recognisable - let's see!
