Orla Kiely and Clarks

I have a confession to make. All (or almost all) of my shoes are from Clarks. There are a few reasons for this - fit, comfort and the fact that they have some pretty fab looking shoes nowadays are amongst them. I have a lovely (now rather battered) pair of brown Clarks brogues which I live in.

I also have a bit of history with Clarks. When I was at college I won a competition (just at my college, nothing massive), which was in conjunction with Clarks, to design a range of children's shoes. I really wanted to go on to study footwear at the time, and that summer I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend a day shadowing one of the children's shoe designers at the factory in Street, Somerset. I had a wonderful day. Subsequent to my trip to Street, I had a Saturday job in the Lincoln shop for nearly a year (my husband says that they brainwashed me as I now refuse to get my son's shoes from anywhere else!).

I make no secret of my love of Orla Kiely, so you can only imagine just how excited I was when I heard about their current collaboration. Not cheap though, and I don't really have any money at the moment. I was rescued however, with a gift! Here they are!

My beautiful red patent shoes go by the name of Matilda. They retail at £100 and are beautifully made and super comfy - I'm sure I'll be able to walk for miles in them. Just waiting for the summer now....

Clarks have very kindly sent me the following images of the other styles in the range. I obviously can't afford another pair but my favourites are Matilda again but in green (also not patent) and Marianne (which I think I might be a bit old for!).
