Welcome to the second in my designer profile series. This week we're looking at Little Knitted Stars.
Little Knitted Stars is the brainchild of Kate Sayer. Kate lectured in Textile Design at the University of Manchester, where she taught students to design and create innovative knitted fabrics. She was also Programme Director for the Bsc (Hons) Textile Design and Design Management (the course she studied herself) for two years.
Kate started up Little Knitted Stars following the birth of her second child. This has provided a better work/life balance and enabled her to use her design skills and knowledge of yarns and knitting.
Little Knitted Stars create colourful hand crocheted and machine knitted accessories to wear and for the home. Kate also creates machine knitted jacquard cushions using retro and pre-loved punchcards, as well as her own designs. She sells at local craft markets and fairs and also takes bespoke orders.
I particularly like the cushions shown in the first photo above. Ideas for stocking fillers include hairbands, clips, brooches and vintage rose alligator clips.
Little Knitted Stars products can be purchased via Etsy and the online gift shop www.boughtwiththought.co.uk
