This week's Designer Profile features the stunning bags created by Sarah Brown of Weald Handmade.
Sarah studied Law, however on realising this wasn't an area she wanted to have a career in, she worked for a charity following graduation. During this time she planned where her creative outlet would fall and initially she focused on women's and children's wear.
She found this focus to be unworkable and, while re-evaluating her plans, set up a cafe specialising in tea and coffee with her husband and a friend (you can find their website here). The cafe was open, but the desire to get back into making was already there and Sarah found herself moving into accessories.
Sarah designs, produces and finishes all of her bags herself from her seaside home. She describes them as having an understated, stylish aesthetic which references the nostalgia of school days whilst retaining an assuredly modern, grown up finish.
Her first collection, seen here, is inspired by geometrics and includes a range of clutches, satchels and handbags.
